BID ACCEPTED – Liverpool To COMPLETE Asier Illarramendi Transfer

Spanish publication, Marca has reported that Liverpool and Real Madrid are neck-deep in negotiation over the transfer of Asier Illarramendi. The Spanish paper is quoting a transfer fee of €22 million, which the Spanish giants are happy to accept.

The paper further adds that the Kops are desperate to see through the deal, as they value Illarramendi highly and want him to join the club before the summer transfer window closes.

Liverpool’s earlier offer was turned down by Madrid, who by the way were not pleased with what the English club tabled for a player they rate highly. Though, the initial transfer bid tabled by Liverpool was not disclosed by the Spanish outlet, it did however, revealed that an improved offer in the range of €22 has now been offered by the Brendan Rodgers-led team.

Now that both parties are said to have reached an agreement on the transfer fee, Marca reports that the ball is now in the court of new Madrid boss, Rafael Benitez to have the final word on the player’s future. This is not expected to take a long time, but Liverpool, it seems, want a quick decision from their former boss in order to kick start their pre-season training.

Illarramendi was supposed to make his much-expected breakthrough into the team last season after the departure of Xabi Alonso, who moved to Bayern Munich. The 25-year old is instead struggling for a place in the team, and will now seek to get his career back on track once the deal has been concluded.
