Bid Tabled – 16 Goals In 11 Games Striker, Confirms Chelsea Has Bid For Him

Plans are underway to strengthen the Chelsea’s squad by January, and one player that has caught the attention of the Blues is Alex Teixeira of Shakhtar Donetsk. The yet-to-be-capped Brazilian has been under the radar due to the less popularity of the Ukrainian League, but his record of 16 goals in 11 League appearances couldn’t but catch the headlines. The 25 year-old player was teammate with fellow countrymen Willian, Douglas Costa and Luiz Adriano, and is now ready to make a big move having spent a handful of years with Shakhtar.

Teixeira is aware of Chelsea’s interests and has expressed his desires to play in the Premier League and is hoping a move works out by January.

‘I have an offer. It was a pleasure to know that Chelsea wants to sign me. It would be great if the transfer already happens in January.’

The attacker who also doubles as a winger and striker has always been linked with a move to a big side, and Italian giants, Juventus are also said to be interested in getting the playmaker. Teixeira came to the notice of Mourinho during the international break. The Portuguese was sighted in the stadium stands during the Ukraine – Spain qualifiers, and it was pointed out that he had come to scout some players for a possible transfer, although he claimed he was only present to watch his team’s opponents in the Champions League, Dynamo Kiev.

Chelsea are also said to be monitoring Kiev players, Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko. Teixeira surpasses the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in his conversion and average goal-per-match rates. His arrival at Chelsea in January will no doubt help the defending champions secure more points that could help with their top four target.
