BIGGEST PROOF – Antoine Griezmann Will Play For Chelsea Next Season

Chelsea were almost perfect last season as they cantered to the Premier League title unchallenged. Well , I say ‘almost’ because there were some bumps and periods of inconsistency along the way, most notably post Christmas when they lost their prolific marksman Diego Costa to a long standing hamstring problem, and struggled for goals. It was the defence that bailed them out consistently as the team had to grind out results one after the other.

So, the big question facing Mourinho was how to tinker with his striking department next season in order to make his well-oiled winning machine even better. In truth, Mourinho has already taken the first steps towards doing that by securing the services of Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao for next season. If the 28-year-old can rediscover his pre-injury touch , then Mourinho will most likely be having the most prolific front line in the league at his disposal.

However, the buck doesn’t stop there for the wily tactician. With striker Loic Remy linked with a move to Besiktas following Falcao’s arrival , Mourinho has sensed an opportunity to delve further in the market and is targeting the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. The French hotshot has been consistently linked with the Blues throughout the summer, and would make a fantastic addition to an already prolific front line.

Griezmann had joined Vicente Calderon just last summer from Real Sociedad and has enjoyed a fantastic debut season under Diego Someone, netting 22 goals in 37 games in the League, level with Neymar and behind only Lionel  Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Capable of playing up top as well as a wide forward, Griezmann fits the bill perfectly and will be able to slot in perfectly at the Blues. However, with the Vicente Calderon outfit valuing him at £43 million, the player won’t come cheap. Chelsea are eyeing various avenues to conclude the deal , including using Filipe Luis or Mohamed Salah as potential makeweights in a player-plus-cash deal.

Atletico will be hoping to keep the forward at the club and try to replicate their title winning achievements of the 2013/14 season next term. However, their financial shortcomings ,coupled with a massive bid from Chelsea, could yet see their prized asset depart for Stamford Bridge this summer.

This is the perfect opportunity for the Blues to sign the 22-year-old French hotshot. The Chelsea supporters will be hoping that their club can lure the world class attacker to Stamford Bridge. A three pronged attack featuring Costa , Griezmann and Hazard , with Fabregas and Oscar supplying passes from the midfield will be enough to send shivers down the spine of any Premier League defense.
