Chelsea have joined Liverpool in the pursuit to sign Brazilian striker Pato, according to the Independent. The 26-year-old returned to his home country Brazil and signed for Corinthians after his career was disrupted by injuries at AC Milan.
He spent a two-year loan spell at Sao Paulo and rediscovered his scoring form by scoring 19 goals for the club.
He has recently been linked with a return to European football and recently expressed his wish to play in England.
“I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. When you get the ball, you need to be ready. The defenders here are very tough, but I like that. I have spoken to Willian, Firmino, Coutinho and David Luiz before,” Pato said.
‘One day I knew I would like to come to England because I think the championship is the number one in the world. It is very competitive.’
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the £11million man of late, but now it seems like they will have to compete with the Blues for his signature.
