Breaking: 1st signing of Klopp era – 5-year contract signed, starlet to be handed number 8, Man Utd and Chelsea lose out

Liverpool are all set to confirm the signing of Serbian starlet Marko Grujic with the 19-year-old being handed the Number 8 shirt, a report has revealed. Grujic is set to become the first signing of the Jurgen Klopp era and the youngster is reported to have cost around 5m pounds.

Liverpool and Grujic’s parent club Red Star Belgrade reached an agreement for the player quite a while ago, but the English club are yet to put an end to the speculation surrounding the player’s future for some reason or the other.

Red Star Belgrade’s Sporting Director Zvezdan Terzic however, has confirmed that a deal is in place with the Reds and that it’s only a matter of time before an announcement was made. Not only did Terzic confirm the presence of a deal, but he also went on to reveal the nitty-gritties of it.

Speaking to Serbian TV, Terzic said, “We will, in the next three days, sign a contract with Liverpool. Marko Grujic will sign a five-year contract with Liverpool where he will have a 1.2m annual net income, which means that he will have 6m from Liverpool. He’ll get No. 8 on the back.”

The 19-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Europe at the moment and Liverpool have done well to ward off interest from Manchester United, Inter Milan and Chelsea. The teenage prospect is surely one for the future and Liverpool do realize that fact as they will immediately send him back to Red Star on loan till the end of the season.
