Breaking Injury News – Mertesacker, Gabriel, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere

Arsenal have received mixed news on the injury front. The Gunners lost Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey to injuries in the FA Cup success over Hull City on Tuesday.

Manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Ramsey has come off worst among the three, and it’s feared that he could be ruled out for up to six weeks.

Following the game, Wenger said: “Mertesacker is just a cut on his eye and looks to be very short. Gabriel is a hamstring and Ramsey is a thigh problem. To me, the most serious looks to be Ramsey. He has a thigh problem, I think it is a thigh strain.”

Meanwhile, in some positive news, England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that midfielder Jack Wilshere is very close to making his comeback to full fitness.

The England international hasn’t featured at all after fracturing his fibula in the pre-season.

“Our information from Arsenal is that he (Wilshere) will be back in good time,” Hodgson told Drivetime.

“He is not guaranteed a place in the squad but I think his past performances merit a place in the squad.

“I think he played four games on the trot (for England) and was man-of-the-match in all of them. He is a very decisive player for us, even to such an extent that he has changed our style of play. He can get the rest of the team playing and make things happen.
“I don’t want to dismiss his chances, but I accept that he has to be fit. I won’t say about Jack what I said about Wayne Rooney.”
