Breaking News – Arsenal Make Official Bid For Cavani, £165,000-A-Week Offer Made

The Daily Express have picked up reports in Spain claiming that Arsenal are preparing a bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

According to the aforementioned source, the North London club have turned their interests from Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema to PSG’s Uruguayan striker after the French striker took to twitter to pur cold water on rumours linking him with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 28-year old Uruguayan striker joined the French Ligue 1 outfit in 2013 after he had a host of top European clubs jostling for his signature after a spectacular time with Napoli where he found the back of the net on a regular basis. However, his move to the Parc des Prences hasn’t turned out as planned as he has had to play second fiddle to enigmatic Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has had to be relegated to a role out wide to accommodate the giant Swede and has never really asserted himself as the main man for the French champions.

There was a glimmer of hope for Cavani, as Ibrahimovic was linked with a move away from the French capital (as per goal) but said move failed to materials leaving Cavani with another season to play second fiddle if he remains at the club as Ibrahimovic’s contract will expire next summer.

Arsenal’s main striker Olivier Giroud has had to endure criticism fro Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry who has suggested that his former club should sign an elite striker if they hope to be crowned Premier League champions, a trophy they last lifted in 2004.

Cavani has managed to score 34 goals for Paris Saint-Germain in 66 appearances despite being mostly deployed out wide.
