Arsenal have maximized their interest in Watford striker Odion Ighalo as Arsene Wenger develops his search for a striker in the approaching summer transfer window.
This report has emerged after Arsenal scouts have been instructed to find center forward target ahead of the summer transfer window and there is a growing belief at Emirates that the Nigerian fits the bill. Arsene Wenger is keen to add a center forward to offer competition for Olivier Giroud and Ighalo could be a good solution for Arsenal.
It seems Ighalo’s influence at Watford has not gone unnoticed at the Emirates in recent months with the striker scoring 14 goals already this season.
According to the Premier League goal scoring charts, Ighalo comes in second with 14 goals in the League, behind Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku. His current stunning form has given him a dramatic rise to fame that has attracted a lot of attention from various clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and now Arsenal.
Ighalo recently declared that he has his eyes set on a move to Old Trafford because he is more than willing to follow the footsteps of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole to Manchester United, as he grew up worshipping these two players.
The reports insists that Ighalo is a good fit for the Gunners because he is fairly young, has made a stunning goal-scoring performance in the Premier and would not be as expensive as other forwards.
With Wenger’s determination that he won’t sign a striker this month and Watford still adamant that they will not sell this in the ongoing transfer window, it seems all the groundwork is going in for the summer.
Besides, Ighalo has declared he interest to remain in England. Currently, Mohammed Elneny remains as Arsenals only first-team signing this January.
