Breaking News – Manchester United To ANNOUNCE Strike Signing
The Red Devils have been linked to several to forwards this summer both in England and elsewhere. However, their search seems to have taken them to the Championship as they have been linked with QPR’s Charlie Austin.
The Englishman won promotion to the Premier League with the London outfit last season, but got relegated with the team at the end of the season, albeit he shone on several occasions.
His impressive performances alerted top clubs in the EPL, with Chelsea also interested at some point, before the champions signed Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco. Newcastle United were also rumoured to be keen for the 26-year old’s services but the Red Devils appear to now be favourites to land Austin.
According to the Metro, bookmakers have slashed the odds on Austin joining Man United this summer. A betting company Betfred have more than halved their own odds, which have been sliced from 25/1 to 12/1.
Although Austin is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer, but not many would have thought the striker would be moving to Old Trafford.
Metro says clubs like Newcastle and West Ham were expected to land the Queens Park Rangers forward but United have appeared to be the frontrunners for his signature. Metro went further to claim an announcement could be made as early as Monday.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are still considered the sixth most likely club Austin would join but the odds have definitely been slashed.
The former Burnley star is valued at £15m by QPR and the London club have stated Austin will remain with them until their valuation of the forward is met.
In August 2013, Austin joined QPR on a three and a half year deal after impressing for Burnley, scoring 16 championship goals in his debut season. However, the player scored 18 goals for the Rangers as they got relegated last season.
