BREAKING – Player Requested Transfer in Order to Get a Chance to Play in the Euros

Mathieu Debuchy, has requested Arsenal to allow him to leave the club this January window. The defender wants to gain first team action in order to get a chance to play in the Euros this summer.

The French international is currently in the process of finalising his move to Serie A club, AS Roma. He has asked Arsene Wenger to let him leave because he isn’t getting any game-time at the club.

The 30 year old arrived at Arsenal in 2014 following a move from Newcastle United. He played in 15 games in his debut season but slowly fell in ranks and has managed to make only 2 appearances this season.

Arsene Wenger though has allowed Debuchy to leave, is hoping he would stay. Not a first choice for the manager, but Wenger would prefer him as a replacement in case Hector Bellerin gets injured.

Arsenal might send the defender on loan to Roma, with an option for a fee of £8m to make the move permanent. Provided Gunners bought him at a fee of £10 million, this won’t be a bad deal for them at all.

It was in the past, when players departing from the club used to lay a huge blow on Arsenal’s season prospects, but times have changed. Arsenal has managed to bag players like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Petr Cech, and none of the players are eager to leave the club, at least not any sooner.

In fact, there are more chances of players arriving at the club than leaving it this year. With a high chance of winning the Premier League this season, it has become the go-to club in the Premier League.
Provided Arsenal does manage to win the league this season, the London club will increase its chances of landing big players that it previously used to struggle obtaining.

Arsenal midfielders, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta are two other players that might part ways with the club in the summer following a contract expiration. They haven’t been offered any new contract.
