CB FINALLY? £90,000-A-Week POWERFUL CB Set To Join Manchester United

Uruguayan Defender Diego Godin has reportedly turned down a bid from Manchester City in favour of a move to Manchester United. Manchester City is said have made a 28 million pounds bid for Diego Godin while also offering the 29 year old a mouth watering offer of £90,000 per week. But the tough tackling and no nonsense defender has snubbed Manchester City due to interest from Manchester United.

Red Devils boss Louis Van Gaal has been desperate for an experienced central defender who can be a leader in the heart of United’s defence since the start of the transfer window and this recent injury to Phil Jones might have increased the Dutch Manager’s attempts to sign a defender. Manchester United have been linked to the likes of Sergio Ramos , Matt Hummels , Nicolas Otamendi and Pepe but have had no major breakthrough with these players.

Sergio Ramos is understood to be at the top of Louis Van Gaal’s transfer list but talks between the Madrid and United have broken down with Madrid playing hardball in selling Ramos. While Nicolas Otamendi who is second on the list has a release clause of 50 million euros which United are unlikely to meet.

Therefore the Red Devils have turned their sights to 29 year old Diego Godin as an alternative. Diego Godin has a played a key role in Atletico Madrid’s rise to prominence in the past 3-4 years and can also play a key role for United as they look to get back to their former great heights. The Uruguayan can bring stability and organization to Manchester United’s defence. United’s last match against Tottenham showed the defence still lacked something important and Diego Godin can be the last piece of United defence puzzle.
