Adama Traore is on his way to Liverpool for a medical after he accepted a switch to Anfield and negotiating terms on joining the club, according to reports. Liverpool have been strongly linked with Barcelona’s Traore in recent days, while reports have suggested he is flying to England for a medical. The young winger has been one of Liverpool’s top summer targets, with Anfield delegates said to have flown to Spain to complete the deal.
The story was first reported by unofficial sources earlier, but Spanish media outlet Sport claims Adama trained with the Barcelona B team on Monday morning before boarding a plane to England few hours later.
The Catalan giants are believed to be willing to allow Traore go after it was announced Barcelona’s B side must offload 13 players before the new campaign, although the Reds are still yet to agree a deal for the winger, Sport expect the transfer to still go through.
Transfer Insider Gianluca Di Marzio says Traore is heading to Liverpool after accepting a move to the Reds over Roma, who had made a similar offer.
Adama primarily a right winger, has made just one appearance in La liga for Barcelona’s first team- a late substitute in a 4-0 win over Granada in November 2013, he then made his Champions league debut few days later against Ajax.
The Reds have invested in youths elsewhere this summer, with 20-year-old Divock Origi and 18-year-old Joe Gomez arriving to challenge for first-team places.
