Judging by the heavy defeat to Manchester city yesterday, it is obvious that Chelsea could do with another centre back. The age of John Terry is obviously starting to tell on his game. Jose Mourinho seems to understand John Terry can’t be relied upon to carry Chelsea through the season and as such as been making moves in the transfer window.
Chelsea have so far been linked to the signatures of the likes of Mats Hummels, John Stones, VFB Stuttgart’s Rudinger and Nicolas Otamendi. However, it seems Otamendi is one of those the Blues have to tick out of the list of potential signings this summer. This is after news emerged that Nicolas Otamendi is set to join Manchester City and has as a matter of fact arrived in England to undergo a medical with city ahead of a reported €40 million move to the citizens.
Otamendi was linked to Chelsea few weeks ago with reports claiming Chelsea manager has identified the Argentine as the long term replacement for Terry. With news claiming he is off to City, Chelsea will have no choice to cough out the cash for the signature of Everton John Stones.
And to sign Stones, the blues need to hurry up as with Otamendi off to City, Manchester United may be forced to move for Stones and considering they have unlimited funds to spend in this window ( or so it seems ), Chelsea may not have a chance if the red devils are interested in signing Stones.
