Chelsea Fans To Welcome Koke To Stamford Bridge In January
Four-time Premier League champions Chelsea are weighing up a January raid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, as per talkSPORT who cite claims from Spain.
The Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been left unimpressed by his creative players so far this term and is keen on bringing in reinforcements in the New Year as they seek to successfully defend their Premier League title before it finally slips from their grasp, as per the report.
Spanish source Sport [per talkSPORT] reveal the west London club are closely monitoring Spain international Koke, who has caught the eye of several European heavyweights with his impressive performances for Atletico in recent seasons.
It is understood Mourinho is a huge admirer of the 23-year old, who has made over 150 appearances for the Rojiblancos, though Chelsea will have to fend off stiff competition from European Champions Barcelona.
Koke will reportedly cost the Blues around £40m if they are to sign the young Spaniard this winter. But they may have to wait till the summer to enter into negotiations with Atletico.
Meanwhile, Chelsea seem to not only want Atletic Madrid players but are also interested in their manager Diego ‘Cholo’ Simeone, with the position of Mourinho at the club under threat.
The self-proclaimed Special One is currently overseeing his and Chelsea’s ever poor start to the season as the Blues currently languish in 16th place having managed just two wins out of eight league games this term.
