Chelsea News – John Terry To Start, Amelia In London, Lukaku Back To Chelsea?

Chelsea’s season has been rather underwhelming with boss Jose Mourinho seeing his team lost their fourth game of the season in all competition against Porto on Tuesday night.

Their title defence is already falling apart as they currently languish in 14th place on the Premier League log.

Now here is a round-up of the latest surrounding the Blues today:

Chelsea have more than 30 players out on loan already and now youngster John Swift has joined the loan army as the Blues have confirmed that the midfielder has moved to Championship side Brentford on a one-month deal.

On the other hand, former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia is on the cusp of moving to Stamford Bridge, and is set to arrive west London imminently. The report from Italy suggests Amelia will sign his contract with the Blues today.

Renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio tweeted yesterday: “Medical tomorrow for @AmeliaGoalie (former @acmilan goalkeeper) with @ChelseaFC: then he’ll sign the contract till the end of the season.

Also, Chelsea are set to be without the services of first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who will be out of action until December. The Belgian ace has not featured for the Blues since the 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace in August due to an injury he picked up while on international duty for Belgium.

Meanwhile, Chelsea senior players are currently unhappy with Jose Mourinho’s treatment of captain John Terry. The 34-year old has not featured for the Blues for the past three league game and the Champions League, and now many want him back in the starting XI. Even supporters are agitating for the return of the retired England international – who has not committed any defensive error this term – to the team.

Furthermore, former Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has revealed his desire to work with old Jose Mourinho once again. The Belgian striker struggled under the Portuguese manager at Stamford Bridge and was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion and then Everton, where he has now made a permanent switch and become a mainstay in the starting XI.

In match related news, according to reports, John Terry is in line for a recall to Chelsea squad today against Southampton.

Lastly, Mourinho has slammed his under-performing Chelsea stars for failing to defend from the set-piece which allowed Porto to score their second and winning goal over the Blues in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
