Chelsea news: on Falcao and John Stones; the Blues battle it out with Arsenal for midfield duo

Chelsea star Radamel Falcao has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to move to China so that he could concentrate on his career at Stamford Bridge. The Colombian striker, who is on a season-long loan at the club, is determined to fight for his place and prove himself at the West London club.

The 30-year-old has recently recovered from a long-term injury and hasn’t featured for the Blues since October. He has managed to score only one goal during his stay with the club, but he believes he can still offer a lot to the club.

He told El Tiempo: “I am focused on the club and just live in the present,”

“Football changes very fast and what today can’t happen, tomorrow can. I’m not thinking about what might happen on April 29. My job is to give my best and when the time comes to make decisions, we will analyse everything and see, because everything can change in football.

“Today I think about what Chelsea can do from now to May. I do not look beyond that. Me staying here will depend on many factors, it doesn’t depend just on my decision. That’s why I try to give my best in training to have a chance [to play], but this will be discussed when we need to make a final decision.”

“It is true that I had two different offers to move to China, but I stayed in England to give myself another opportunity. Going there would have been the easiest way out because it was a great offer, but I preferred to stay here and fight [for a place].”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are facing competition from London rivals Arsenal in their pursuit of Bologna midfield pair of Amadou Diawara and Godfred Donsah, according to Daily Mail.

Both clubs have scouted the teenage pair on several occasion this season and are set to move for them in the summer transfer window. Diawara, 18, and Donsah, 19, have become midfield mainstay of the Serie A club this season and are considered top youth talent in European football. Manchester United, Everton and Manchester City are also said to be keeping tabs on the duo.

The West London are also set to renew their interest in Everton central defender John Stones in summer. The Blues hold a long-term interest in the England international, and they attempted to sign him in the last summer transfer window.

However, their bid of £30 million was turned down by the Toffees. Now, according to the Mirror, Chelsea are set to renew their interest in the player following the arrival of Antonio Conte as club’s manager.
The Blues are ready to offer one of their young players on a loan deal along with cash to convince the Merseysiders into selling their prized asset. Manchester City are said to be interested in the 21-year-old.
