Abdul Baba Rahman is not a name that rings a bell in the ears of many Chelsea fans, but if report emanating from the Mirror is anything to go by, then he might just be donning the famous blue jersey of the Stanford Bridge side next season.
According to the report, the Blues want to sign the Augsburg full-back as a replacement for Filipe Luis before the close of the current transfer window. As much as a chance to play for a big club as Chelsea is tempting enough for any young player, 20-year old Rahman is also wary of suffering a similar fate as Christian Atsu, who has not been able to realize his dream of playing for the Blues since penning his deal. The Ghanaian international has been shipped out on loan to different clubs on different occasions.
According to the source, the Augsburg left-back is highly thought-of by Jose Mourinho, and is pressing ahead to sign him before the transfer window closes.
Despite not being a popular name among Chelsea fans, the 20-year old is an established international for his country Ghana, and already boasts of 11 caps. He is already attracting interest from some clubs in Europe, which could take his transfer fee a bit higher.
He was a major part of his Bundesliga team last season, earning Augsburg their first ever European spot in the league last term. According to the Mirror, the Ghanaian international will cost around £15 million.
Chelsea are continuing with their plans to find a replacement for Luis, who has failed to make the cut since joining the Blues from Atletico Madrid last summer.
