If you are Chelsea, how do you overcome the disappointment of missing out on a top European player? Well you go on to sign one better than that you missed out on. Cue Axel Witsel and Antoine Griezmann. Chelsea narrowly missed out on Witsel who instead opted to move to Italian giants AC Milan. The blues had bid £24 million for the services of the Belgian international. But Milan, hurting after the loss of Geoffrey Kondogbia to city rivals Inter , convinced Witsel to join the San Siro club.
However , Chelsea have moved on to one bigger and better in the shape of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. The young forward had a hugely successful season at the Vicente Calderon, notching a total of 25 goals in 54 appearances. He remains high on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist and would reportedly cost a whopping £45 million. Another option that Chelsea are currently exploring is to include Mohamed Salah as part of any prospective deal. Salah is set to decide in the next 24 hours whether to extend his loan deal with Fiorentina or not.His decision is bound to have an impact on any offer the Blues make for Griezmann.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Serbian Wonder kid Andrija Zivkovic. The 18-year old is touted as a future star and impressed with his performances at the Under-20 World cup in New Zealand last year, where he also became the youngest ever player at senior international level. Valencia are also interested in the player’s signature according to his agent. The kid might be one to watch out for in the future and if Chelsea do sign him , Blues fans will hope that he follows in the footsteps of fellow Serbians Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic.
