Chelsea Open OFFICIAL Talks To Sign £25m Arsenal Target
The Blues are reportedly in talks with Brazilian club, Internacional over a potential deal for Charles Aranguiz, who plays for Chile. According to the Express, the 26-year old midfielder has continued to attract a lot of attention from the Premier League champions following his amazing performance for his country Chile during the last Copa America tournament held in June and July.
While Jose Mourinho boasts of one of the most formidable teams in the EPL, the Portuguese is not one to be easily carried away by his achievement of winning the league last season as he is now set to bolster his squad with an-action midfielder, which Aranguiz represent. The 26-year old starred in his country’s hammering of Bolivia in the last Copa America, where he scored two goals.
Signing Aranguiz is a clear indication that Chelsea want to go all out to defend the title they won last season. It is also means that Jose Mourinho won’t be signing another box to box midfielder, since he already has Nemanja Matic, who plays in similar position. However, it may also signal the fact that the club is looking to sell John Obi Mikel, who can also play in similar position, and has been in the club since he was a teenager. Perhaps, Mikel is not the only midfielder that could be sacrificed for Aranguiz, as other players who could play in similar position may also leave the club.
Only last week, the Metro reported that the Blues have agreed a deal with the defensive midfielder, with a move said to be imminent.
