Chelsea Plan Antoine Griezmann Signing In January

Reports coming out of Spain have stated that Premier League defending Champions could make a shock move for French winger Antoinne Griezmann in the winter transfer window.  It is understood that the Blues had earlier made an initial bid for Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window despite his release clause of £56.8 million pounds but it was turned down by Atletico.

As time passed the Blues eventually lost interest in the Frenchman as they turned their attention to Spanish winger Pedro Rodriguez. However, Chelsea are back in contention for Antoinne Griezmann as the Blues prepare for a blockbuster winter transfer window. The Blues have been uninspiring and disappointing thus far and the winter transfer window could see major changes take place at Chelsea. One of such changes could be addition of Antoinne Griezmann who is extremely needed at Chelsea.

The Blues attack have struggled to create chances as well as score goals this season. The likes of Willian , Hazard , Ramires , Oscar , Costa and Fabregas have been unproductive this season which highlights how much a fresh player is needed in their attack. The arrival of Pedro has been over-shadowed by the entire team’s lack-lustre performances which could be solved by signing Antoinne Griezmann.

The winger bagged 25 goals and created 22 chances for last season for Atletico which highlights his ability as an assist-maker and goal scorer. Not only will the signing of Griezmann boost the Chelsea attack, the 24 year old can also offer the blues another dimension to their attack. It can be said that majority of Chelsea’s problem this season boils down to the fact that the Blues still field the same players, use the same tactics and still play the same way which has been studied by oppositison teams. A change in their attacking approach could be prove beneficial for Chelsea.
