Chelsea reportedly ready to provide €70m to complete record-breaking transfer

Chelsea have always had a problem with strikers and have constantly spent big money in an attempt to find a 30-goal man. Torres cost them a fortune and despite having plenty of chances, didn’t really become the player they’d wanted. Shevchenko is another name on that list of failed big money signings.

Chelsea look set to spend big again this summer in an effort to bring in a star striker. The 3 names being touted at the minute are Romelu Lukaku of Everton, Edison Cavani of PSG and Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli, all 3 of them are subject of recent transfer rumours. These 3 strikers are some of the hottest property on the market and Roman Abramovich has reportedly sanctioned a 70million move for at least one of them.

But how would they fund the move?

Diego Costa is a divisive character who sometimes has an intolerable attitude and really likes to get in the face of his opponents; but he does score a lot of goals. His form dipped drastically this season under Mourinho, although it recovered when Hiddink took over, but it looks as though Chelsea might be ready to cash in on the striker who is apparently unsettled in West London.

Any of the big-spending Chinese clubs might be interested in securing the transfer, and the league itself has the option to buy the player and allocate him to a club. Chelsea reckon they can bring in up to 70million for the striker, which could fund a potential move for Lukaku, Cavani or Higuain of Napoli. Higuain has been on the Chelsea radar for some time and has had an impressive season on Serie A this term, netting 32 times in the league.
