Chelsea Set To Sign Defender On Loan In SHOCKING DEAL Of The Summer

In sensational reports emerging in the Brazilian media , it has been claimed that former Chelsea defender Alex is eyeing a return to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal.

Brazilian media Globoesporte has also confirmed that the 33-year-old former Blues favorite is looking to leave Milan after just a single season at the San Siro.

The player who made 86 league appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit before leaving for Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly keen to join either one of his former clubs Santos and Chelsea until June 2016, which is when his contract expires.

Milan’s pursuit of highly rated Roma center back Alessio Romagnoli has seemingly convinced the big Brazilian that his future lies away from the Rossoneri and he is allegedly pining for a move back to the Premier League champions .

While the prospect of a former favorite returning to his old stomping ground is sure to appeal to some quarters of the Chelsea fan base, the news surely won’t appeal much to the ever pragmatic Blues manager Jose Mourinho.

Already possessing the best central defensive pairing in the league in John Terry and Gary Cahill, with the increasingly impressive Kurt Zouma to call upon as backup.Branislav Ivanovic, the current incumbent of the right back position, is himself capable of playing centrally. Alex, therefore has nothing new or different to offer and however much the fans love him, the club simply do not need his services.

With links to John Stones emerging this summer, Mourinho is possibly on the lookout for a central defender who can both be a long term replacement for the ageing captain John Terry as well as a cover for the Englishman. However, Alex is most definitely not the answer and sentiment should not command the course of action the club chooses to take.
