Chelsea Target Arrives, To Undergo Medical Tomorrow, Five Years Contract To Be Signed
Newcastle united are due to complete the €13m transfer of Alexander Mitrovic from Belgian side Anderlecht with the forward due to complete a medical. Mitrovic, 20 had been linked to Chelsea but now look set to join Newcastle after the Stamford Bridge giants decided instead to bring in Colombian Radamel Falcao on loan.
The Serbian will become Newcastle’s second signing of the summer following the signing of Dutch international midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum from Eridivise giants PSV Eindhoven. Mitrovic is currently one of the world’s most prolific young center forwards in the game with loads of pace, power and finishing ability. The Geordies believe these qualities will help him adapt easily to life in the EPL.
Mitrovic scored 20 goals for Anderlecht in the Belgian jupiler pro league last season and one goal in the European champions league. He will surely boost the front line of the tyneside club who scored just 40 goals the entire season and had to rely on a home win against West Ham in order to stay up. The likes of Emmanuel Riviere and Ayoze Perez who were brought in last summer failed to make any impact, putting in blunt performances in front of goal while Papiss Cisse has been in and out of form for the past few seasons.
New Boss Steve McLaren wants the Serbian to spearhead his new look front line and is still looking to bring a few more players as he bids to return Newcastle once again to the top echelons of English football and is being backed by Mike Ashley, Newcastle united owner who also owns Sportswear giant Sports direct.
