Chelsea Target Bids GOODBYE To Team Mates, Flies In For Medical, Announcement Monday

Chelsea are ready to hijack Newcastle’s bid to sign Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, writes the Daily Star.

As per Express, the Serbia international striker is close to sealing a switch to Newcastle for £13 million with new boss Steve McClaren signing one of his primary targets.

Mitrovic has also confirmed the move, as he posted a goodbye message on Facebook. “It’s over! Again in black and white :)). Thank you RSC Anderlecht! Thank you for everything!”, the Serb wrote.

The 20-year old made a brilliant contribution the last time he was in England. He score the equaliser for Anderlecht in a 3-3 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League last season, thereby making himself a hot prospect – with Swansea, Newcastle and Chelsea all keen to add him to their team.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho want to boost his strike force, with Pedro and Antoine Griezmann on the club’s radar. The Premier League champions want to activate the former’s release clause of £22 million, and Man United are also interested.

Griezmann, on the other hand, will likely be joining the Blues in a part exchange plus cash which will include a return to Atletico Madrid for Filipe Luis.

In the words of the Daily Star, however, “Anderlecht will sell but the Serbian international wants to play Champions League football and is understood to be asking for wages of around £60,000 a week plus bonuses.”

Following this, Chelsea appear to be the only club who can offer Mitrovic Champions League football, of all other admirers.

Should the Anderlecht ace make the switch to Stamford Bridge, the exciting young prospect will have no problem settling with fellow Serbs Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanonic not only Chelsea players, but also starters in the team.
