Chelsea Target CONFIRMS He Will Play For Liverpool Next Season
Slovakia and Liverpool central-defender, Martin Skrtel has put pen to paper on a new 3 year-deal at the club; effectively putting paid to all speculations about his future. The player who has been linked to both Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United was thought to be on his way out of the club but has instead decided to sign a new contract with the club.
It was feared that the 30 year-old defender was thinking of a move away, after almost seeing out his former contract and allegedly stalling in the pursuit of a contract-extension. Inter Milan, as well as a few clubs across Europe were also monitoring the player’s situation with a bid to snap him up, but the player has instead, committed himself to the Anfield giants for another 3 years.
Skrtel, arguably one of the best defenders in the English Premier league at the moment, is known for his solidity at the back, as well as having a penchant for snuffing out opposition attacks at will. Having joined Liverpool from Russian side, Zenit back in 2008, he has established himself as the Spine of the Liverpool defence.
Following continued interest from Inter Milan, it was expected that the player would follow in the steps of Englishman Raheem Sterling and depart the club on a big-money move: however, reports state that he intentionally snubbed all advances from Milan and other clubs, so as to stay at Anfield.
