Chelsea To COMPLETE Pedro Signing In Days, Liverpool And Arsenal Lose Out
Chelsea are really interested in signing Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez and would want the deal to be completed before their US tour begins next week, Goal understands.
Pedro was sparingly used by Luis Enrique in the 2014-15 season as the Blaugrana did the treble. He started only 15 games in total and that has led to endless speculation regarding his future despite putting pen to paper on a new deal some weeks ago.
The winger’s playing chance became limited as a result of Neymar’s brilliance, as well as the arrival of Luis Suarez last summer.
As per Goal, the Blues will submit a bid of £20million to Barcelona and offer Pedro a four-year contract in order to persuade him to join.
The Spanish international also gave a hint on a probable move away from the Camp Nou, saying recently: “I wanted to finish my career here, but we’ll have to see”.
The Metro also reports Chelsea are set to land the player for £22 million this week, after the Independent had claimed two days ago that a fee of £21.6 million has been agreed by both clubs, making Chelsea beat Arsenal and Liverpool to Pedro’s signature.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas does not only assist on the field of play but also on transfers.
He is said to be assisting the Blues in persuading Pedro to join although Mourinho has reportedly called the winger to convince him, just as he did to make Fabregas chose to move to Stamford Bridge.
Spanish publication, Sport are however of the opinion that Pedro have decided to make the move as Jose’s phone call has convinced him.
Should the 27-year old move to Stamford Bridge, Juan Cuadrado may have to exit the club as he has been the subject of a £24 million bid from Juventus, with Jose likely to sell.
Pedro made his debut with the Catalan club in 2008 and scored 58 goals in 204 appearances, notable among them being the one scored in the 2011 Champions League final against Man United at Wembley (Independent).
He is a decorated winner of three Champions League, five La Liga, three Copas Del Rey, two UEFA Super Cup and two FIFA Club World Cup titles, all at Barcelona.
Chelsea’s major summer buys so far have been Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco and Asmir Begovic brought in from Stoke City.
Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane and Baba Rahman are among a host of several other stars linked to the Blues.
