Chelsea To Offload Branislav Ivanovic In January Transfer Window

Branislav Ivanovic

Chelsea have concluded plans to offload one of their most consistent and reliable player Branislav Ivanovic in the winter transfer market, this is according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old Serbian had been a subject of heavy criticism following his appalling performance for the reigning champions of the Premier League – he was dropped in Chelsea’s Champions League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv last Wednesday.

However, in Mourinho featured the player in their League derby against Arsenal and he was even made the captain. Ivanovic turned up for the duration of the game that saw Chelsea got the better of Arsenal by 2 – 0.

It is unclear if Ivanovic will remain at Chelsea after January – his contract will expire at the end of this season and Chelsea have a policy of giving just a year extension to players above the age of 30 meaning he can discuss a potential bosman transfer in January. With his performance for Chelsea this season, Mourinho might just offload the versatile defender.

Chelsea are heavily linked with a move for several defenders come January as they look to bolster the right side of their defense.
