Club Chairman Confirms £40m Arsenal Target On The Way, Gunners Will Love Him, Chelsea To Lose Out On Him
The Emirates landlords have been linked with a move for one of the most coveted midfielders in the world Bayer Leverkusen Hakan Calhanoglu, this is according to various reports.
Calhanoglu has become one of the most chased midfielders in Europe following his stellar performances and eye-catching free-kicks for club. Chelsea and Barcelona have joined the Arsenal in the quest to land the midfielder.
The cheering news for the Gunners is that they can still land the versatile midfielder as the Bayer Leverkusen’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Schade has confirmed interest in the player but said Calhanoglu stay with the German outfit is beyond him.
Schade said:
“We want to keep Hakan, but with us there is a pain threshold.”
On the Premier League interest, he added: “I see that and I am calm and relaxed.”
Calhanoglu has been likened to his Turkish born Arsenal compatriot Mesut Ozil but he seems more versatile and stronger than the mesmerizing German Player.
Arsenal have a cluster of creative midfielders but considering the age of Tomas Rosicky and injury vulnerability of Jack Wilshere, Calhonglu will be a big feat for the Gunners who are already looking short of midfield options due to injuries.
Calhanoglu, 21, has featured 11 times for Leverkusen and scored once.
