Club Director Confirms Manchester United Target Will Sign, £300,000-A-Week To Be Done

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has spoken confidently about Neymar renewing his contract with the catalan giants following rumored interest from Manchester United.

United were keen on signing Neymar towards the close of the summer transfer window as he was reportedly relishing the opportunity of becoming the main man at Old Trafford although Neymar’s father made it clear that the offer for the Brazilian ace was rejected.

Neymar has been on mercurial form so far this season. Following Lionel Messi’s absence from the side due to an injury he picked up earlier on in September, Neymar has clicked quite nicely with strike partner Luis Suarez scoring 11 goals in 10 league appearances so far this term.

Fernandez insisted he is “comfortable” over the possibility of Neymar signing a new deal.

“He is the second best player in the world,” Fernandez said.

“He’s a player of extraordinary ability, who possesses magic and special talent, scores goals and is very important for the club. I have no doubt that he’ll renew. The time will come in which we sit, talk and find a solution. He’s happy here and performing well. The club will provide all that is necessary for Neymar to be calm and at ease. I’m very comfortable with the situation. We haven’t spoken yet, but we don’t need to because I know he’ll sign.”

The interest from United was quite a surprise as Neymar was coming off the back of a great season at the Nou Camp prior to the Red Devils’ summer bid. Barcelona have made it clear that Neymar is off limits and United will have to look elsewhere for players to bolster the team’s attacking threat.
