Club Ready to Sell Their Biggest Star, United Leading the Race for £30m-rated Deadly Striker
Man Utd have been long-term admirers of Southampton winger Sadio Mane. They have previously unsuccessfully attempted to sign the player and are expected to reignite their interest in the summer.
However, they will face competition from cross-town rivals Man City for the 23-year old this time round.
Manchester Evening News reports that the player could be available for a cut-price deal in the summer, and both Manchester clubs are expected to go head-to-head for his signing.
Mane has suffered a dip in his form and has failed to score a goal in 15 league games. He didn’t feature for the Saints in the 1-0 win at Swansea on Saturday and manager Ronald Koeman indicated that Mane might not feature in his plans at St Mary’s anymore.
“We play a little bit different at the moment,” he said at the weekend.
“We do not play with three in front, we play with two strikers, and that is one reason Mane did not start. In the last few weeks, he has been struggling a little bit with his performances.”
Mane signed from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in a £11.8m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window, and he is valued at £30m by Saints.
