Confirmed – Arsenal Open Talks To Sign World Cup CB

According to reports, Arsenal are set to hold negotiations with Croatian star midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The 21 year old attacking midfielder has been termed as one of the rising stars of Croatian football.

He was part of the Croatian squad that played at this summer’s World Cup and made a 26 minutes appearance in the opening game of the tournament against Brazil.

He has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and his representative, Miroslav Bicanic has now confirmed that he would hold talks with several clubs in London in November. Croatia will play England in an international friendly in November, and both player and agent would be in the English capital at the time.

“Croatia plays USA in November in London and during our stay there we will hold meetings and negotiate with several English teams,” the agent said.

He then confirmed that Arsenal would be one of the teams he would meet next month in London. “Yes I can confirm Arsenal are one of them.”

The 5ft 11in midfielder has made over 59 league appearances for the Dinamo Zagreb since he joined them in 2012. He has played in all age group teams for Croatia, and currently has six caps to his name in the Croatian national team since making his debut in the summer.

Although, he is yet another player linked to Arsenal, it is a well held fact that Arsenal seldom conducts its business in the corridors of the media, it is not yet clear what the representative of the Croatian international aims to achieve by telling the press that Arsenal are amongst the club that his client would meet next month. It is a widely known fact that several representatives of players have used Arsenal to get a good deal for their clients in the past by using the club’s name to up whatever could be on offer from other clubs.

Marcelo Brozovic has a long term contract (seven years) with Dinamo, and he certainly would not come cheap.

Another thing to note is that the player’s representative mentioned that several clubs are interested in signing the 21 year old. In the end, it could be the club that represents the best place for him to develop as a football player in order to further his career that might get ahead of the queue to sign him, expect other factors comes into play.

It is essentially one to keep watching in the coming months.
