Confirmed – Arsenal Signs Barca Midfielder, Deal Done And Dusted

Arsenal have welcome Barcelona midfielder to the Emirates. The Gunners have announced on their website that they have sealed the capture of female midfield star, Marta Corredera from the Spanish club, as per Sky Sports.

“Arsenal announced: ‘We are pleased to the signing of Marta Corredera from Barcelona.”

The 23-year old Spanish woman has left the Blaugrana female team after winning four consecutive league titles with them.

Marta could, however make her debut for the female Gunners this Sunday against Liverpool, as the Women Super League resumes after the World Cup break.

The midfielder, according to reports, has 28 caps for Spain, and was also part of the Spain Women football team that went out at the group stage in the World Cup tournament in Canada last month.

Express confirm that five Arsenal players (Alex Scott, Jordan Nobb, Lian Sanderson, Siobhan Chamberlain and Casey Stoney) were involved with the England squad in Canada, as the Three Lionesses’ efforts could only earn them a bronze medal.

Marta’s would be joining international teammates Vicky Losada and Natalia Pablos Sachon – who both joined Arsenal at the start of the season – in North London (BBC).

It is thought that these players, along with manager Pedro Martinez Losa may have been the factor behind Marta’s move to Arsenal. The former Espanyol midfielder will be delighted with the move as she seeks for new adventures having won four titles with Barcelona.

Arsenal were linked to “Mini Messi’ Fran Kirby of Reading Ladies before the player opted to sign for the Chelsea Ladies instead. The female Gunners are currently second on the table, two points behind Chelsea Ladies with six games gone.
