It’s official, goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira returns back to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Rochdale. 19-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper moved to Spotland in October on an initial one-month deal, but the deal was extended and he made eight appearances for Rochdale.
However, it’s unlikely the Portuguese talent will be challenging David De Gea for the No 1 shirt any time soon. Pereira appeared at youth level for Switzerland, but most recently for Portugal.
Rochdale paid tribute to his services on official website. A statement said: “The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined Dale from the Premier League side on an initial one month loan in October and later extended his stay until January 3rd. He made eight appearances during his time at the club. We’d like to thank Joel for his efforts and his contribution, as well as wishing him the very best of luck for the future.”
