Real Madrid and Colombian superstar James Rodriguez has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the transfer window next month. According to various reliable media outlets including Skysports, the Gunners are keen on signing the high rated Colombian.
Rodriguez is expected to be surplus to requirement with Real Madrid on the trail of either Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil or Chelsea’s Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas as they look to beef up creativity in the middle of the park rather than the usual stockpiling of number 10s and winger.
The potential vacuum from Ozil’s exit would be filled up by James Rodriguez, who has been left unhappy and frustrated under manager Rafael Benitez due to his lack of playing time and is also disappointed with the Real Madrid hierarchy for sugar-coating him about being the future of the club before his expensive move from AS Monaco in 2014.
A move to Arsenal would give James Rodriguez the ‘main man’ tag he desperately wants. He is more than happy to move away from 10-time European champions though he is cup-tied in the UEFA Champions League due to his situation at the club.
The Colombian star won’t come on a cheap but the proposed swap deal involving German play conductor Ozil would effectively take care of the situation.
