The agent of Serbia attacking midfielder, Pedja Djordjevic has revealed that Chelsea is one of the leading clubs interested in his client. Andrija Zivkovic who plays for Partizan Belgrade in the Serbian first division is also wanted by Valencia, according to reports by ESPN.
“Valencia and Chelsea are two of the clubs who are interested in Zivkovic”. The Premier League Champions are, however, said to be the more serious keen in purchasing him. The Nis, Yugoslavia-born Andrija who made his debut for Partizan at the age of sixteen is been rated highly in Serbia. Hence, he has already earned two caps for the Serbian senior national football team at age 18. This makes him the youngest player ever to make his debut for Serbia, and also, the youngest to captain SuperLiga club, Partizan Belgrade, ever. Since 2013, he has made 44 competitive appearances for the club and scored 10 goals. He also won the league title with them in the 2014-2015 season.
Although Sevilla and Benfica first showed interest in the U-20 World Cup winner after his performances this past season, but Chelsea, if words from his agent are true, are now the club looking to snap him club. “Our aim is to analyse the options and decide calmly”, he told (A Bola), the Portuguese sports paper.
If he joins, he will likely be sent out on loan by The Blues in order to prepare him for first team action, like they do to the likes of Bertrand Traore(on loan at Vitesse), Tomas Kalas, Kenneth Omeruo(both at Middlesborough), etc. He is, no doubt, an exceptional player but he may not be integrated into the first team right away, as there are the likes of Oscar, Fabregas and Hazard already in his preferred position.
Zivkovic won the 2015 U-20 FIFA World Cup with his country, Serbia. He has also won the League title with his club, Partizan Belgrade, last season. He has performed well in the Europa League, although he did not score. It remains to be seen how Chelsea will utilise him, if they make their offer…and if the offer will be accepted.
