Confirmed – Chelsea Target John Stones Was At Old Trafford, United KEEN ON Him

John Stones’ old coach David Flitcroft has revealed that he once took the England’s international youngster to a game at Old Trafford in order for him to get live action in watching Manchester United defenders. An occurrence David said was always in his plans for the then-teenager.  The former Barnsley’s coach, who now manages League One side, Bury made this revelation following series of praises and accolades showered on his one-time protege.

Stones left Barnsley in 2013 for Goodison Park, and has since grown into one of the finest centre backs in the EPL. He has attracted offers from Chelsea and Manchester United due to his fine form, with pressure mounted on him recently to leave Everton for Stamford bridge during the summer transfer window.

The 21 year-old however chose to stay put with the Merseysiders to the admiration of fans and coach alike, and has since gone ahead to feature in all of Everton’s 6 League games this season. He has again impressed thus far winning 65% of his total tackles.

Stones handed in a transfer request during the summer with speculations of a Stamford bridge-move haven risen. However, the move fell through, and despite that, Stones has continued to represent the Goodison Park outfits well, earning him praises from critics and pundits alike for his professionalism and maturity.

His former coach attributes the 6ft tall John’s great form and dodginess to his understudy of Red Devils’ defenders, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Flitcher mentioned how video clips of the duo’s performances were given to Stones for him to read and learn how the then top defenders played and positioned themselves during games. The young defender’s future isn’t certain at Everton as Chelsea are still planning on getting him after growing concerns of their defence line in recent times.
