CONFIRMED – Patrice Evra Help Anthony Martial Settle At Manchester United

Juventus’ defender Patrice Evra, once of Manchester United, have been helping the Red Devils’ latest recruit Anthony Martial by giving him tips on how to succeed at the Theatre of Dreams, says the Daily Mail.

Evra himself was a player at Monaco before United came calling in 2006 under Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign as manager and the left-back could not say no to the approach. Another symmetry between Evra and Martial is that both of them played for the same youth team – Les Ullis – before being snapped up by professional clubs.

The Juventus’ defender made 379 appearances [via Squawka] for the Red Devils, winning fourteen major honours. Therefore, Evra definitely knows what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford and has been passing on this tips to Anthony Martial while the pair are at international duty with the France national team.

As per the Daily Mail report, Evra invited Martial for lunch on Wednesday and gave him an advice to take English lessons when he moves to Manchester.

Martial, 19, put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Manchester United, with the option of a fifth. The former Lyon tyro will be hoping to make a massive impact at Louis van Gaal’s side, and also try to surpass the achievements made by his countryman, Evra.

Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj were let go to provide room for Martial, and the France international will be expected to provide competition for Wayne Rooney upfront – as the England joint top goalscorer has yet to score a league goal, despite featuring for United in all of their four league games this season.

The Red Devils’ next match sees them face Liverpool who, like United, lost to West Ham United 3-0 in their third game of the season, and for the first time in the league this season. Van Gaal’s side also got trounced 2-1 by Swansea, and both United and Liverpool would be looking for a win next Sunday.
