Deal done? Arsenal to complete signing of Granit Xhaka after agreeing to personal terms

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, who is keen on improving his midfield options looks set to land his first summer signing even before the end of what has been a frustrating season for the Gunners.

The Switzerland’s international currently playing for the Bundesliga team, Borussia Monchengladbach, is rumoured to have already agreed on personal terms with the Gunners. This is despite Arsenal only having tabled an initial bid of only 24million pounds which falls short of Monchengladbach’s valuation of Xhaka at 35million pounds.

Despite Arsenal Wenger’s silence on his imminent intentions about Xhaka’s signing, the Gunners have been closely following on Xhaka’s progress. The Gunners have watched him play-a whopping 30 times-this season alone.

Besides, there has been frequent contact between the Gunners’ representatives and Xhaka over the past month. This by itself is an indicator of the seriousness with which Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his midfield if not the entire squad in the summer.

Bleacher’s report of Xhaka having had agreed personal terms with the Gunners coupled with the fact that Xhaka has a release clause of 20million pounds due next year, points to an imminent departure of the midfielder from his current club Borussia Monchengladbach. Monchengladbach are therefore tied as regards this imminent transfer of their midfielder-Xhaka- who is also keen to play in the English Premier league going by reports.

And with everything about the Switzerland’s international transfer seemingly going the Gunners’ way, Xhaka’s personal ambitions, all but serve to indicate where the player’s mind is set for the next season.

Xhaka has personally talked of a desire to play in the premier league. As such, current club Monchengladbach have very limited choices to make and in the most likely of outcomes will have let the midfielder exit this summer landing Arsene Wenger’s side their first signing of the summer.
