Mohamed Elneny has completed a move to Arsenal from Basel, his Basel team-mate Albian Ajeti has confirmed it.
“I’m happy for you Mohamed El Nenny success in Arsenal,” the 18-year-old team-mate wrote on a Facebook post along with a picture of the two together.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Arsenal officials had flown to Switzerland to complete the £7 million move for the Egypt international. The Egyptian has completed the medical and the only delay is getting international clearance, which is expected to be resolved soon enough.
As we all wait for Arsenal to announce that deal today, questions are still being asked if Elneny will retain his shirt number when he moves to arsenal.
Elneny wears the No. 33 jersey for Basel, but he will not be able to keep his shirt, since that is occupied by Petr Cech.
Cech revealed that he wears the No. 33 shirt because he is 33 years old and has made 333 appearances in the Premier League and…because he wants to be the spine of the team because a spine has 33 vertebrae.
