Definitive end of Van Gaal? Fight between Rashford and LVG stopped by teammates
During their humiliating defeat of 3 – 0 by Spurs last Sunday, Manchester United players were forced to double their roles, both as players and counselors off the pitch at half time. This followed unprecedented criticism at Rashford by Manager Louis Van Gaal who expressed his disappointment with the teenager’s style of play.
According to the Daily Mail, his teammates had to intervene by way of consolation to help uphold his spirit. Van Gaal’s action must have caught Rashford with much surprise owing to the fact that he is in the best of his form.
The teenager scored twice on his Manchester United senior debut and has a total of 5 goals to his name since joining the senior team. Before his debut, Rashford had been named by Van Gaal among his substitutes in the 2-1 win at Watford on November 21 and in the draw with the league favorites, Leicester the weekend that followed.
The Dutch man’s move to speak with Rashford on Monday did not help restore the already lost confidence in him. He is under a lot of pressure from both the fans and his employers following a spate of poor results.
Manchester United is not among the premier league favorites and their chances of participating in the much coveted Champions League next season are slim. This justifies the old man’s frustrations which Rashford became a victim of last Sunday.
