Diego Costa Match Ban Update

Amidst fears that Diego Costa was going to follow in the footsteps of former Chelsea teammate Filipe Luis and return back to Atletico next summer, the 26 year old has successfully put to bed any rumour about him leaving Chelsea to the delight of Chelsea fans. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is reportedly still a keen admirer of the 26 year old and is open to Costa returning back to the club after the Spaniard’s 36 goals in the 2013/2014 season helped Atletico Madrid secure a La Liga title and also helped them to the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The 26 year old has dismissed talks of a return to Atletico in a recent interview and was quoted as saying “How am I going to return to Atletico if no one has made me an offer? “I scored a good goal [against Maccabi] but we needed to win and that’s what matters.“

We know we can give a little more than we are. Each one of us knows that we can do more. We thought things would be better.”

The 26 year old was instrumental in Chelsea’s double trophy triumph last season scoring a total of 20 goals in 26 Premier League matches. However, the Spaniard is still yet to get off the mark in the Premier League this season and was the subject of a major controversy in the London derby over the weekend.
