Diego Simeone Started Learning English as Chelsea Held Official Talks with his Agent

Chelsea has kept a keen eye on Diego Simeone ever since parting ways with Jose Mourinho. The Atletico Madrid manager has been their number one preference to become the next permanent Chelsea manager and it seems that Simeone might turn his eye to the Premier League.

According to reports, Blues have contacted the Atletico boss to let him know that he is top choice for the managerial position at the Stamford Bridge. The Independent states that the Argentinian has started learning English and it is suggested that he might be interested in moving to England.

Italy manager Antonio Conte is also a contender for the job but it is hinted that Blues would like to attain Simeone’s services.

According to Mirror, Chelsea has contacted Simeone’s sister, Natalia, who is also his agent, to let them know about their interest.

Simeone is currently under contract with Atletico Madrid which keeps him in Spain for another four seasons. The 45-year-old has a release clause of £3.1 million, which Chelsea might trigger provided that he agrees to become Chelsea manager.

Simeone is currently trying to chase Barcelona in the Premier League and close the 9 points gap they have between themselves and the leaders, Catalans. Atletico also has its Champions League knock-out stage fixture against PSV Eindhoven next week.
