DONE – CB Signs Four Years Deal For Manchester United, Will Earn £80,000-A-Week

Report emanating from England state that 23-year old Manchester United defender, Phil Jones, has put paid to speculations about his future at United by recently putting pen to paper on a contract extension at the club.

Jones, who was part of the Manchester United central-defense pairing last season- so faulted a number of times for conceding needless goals at will- alongside Chris Smalling, eventually redeemed his image towards the end of last season with some brilliant defensive coordination and attacking contributions. Having almost seen out his former contract, reports state that United decided to award him with a four-year contract extension, which would see him staying at the club till 2019.

On the new contract, the player, according to reports: “I am delighted to have signed a new deal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and i’m looking forward to my development as a player. I would like to thank the manager, coaching staff and fans for their support.”

It is believed that contrary to public expectation, United coach Louis van Gaal will stick to his last season’s central-defensive pairing of Jones and Smalling, in order to challenge for honours both in England and Europe.
