DONE DEAL – £180,000-A-Week Two Times UCL Winner Signs For Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has penned a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge, the club’s official website has announced.

The self-acclaimed Special One will now remain in charge of the Blues first team till 2019 and the deal is purportedly worth around £30m.

The erstwhile Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid tactician enjoyed success with the Blues last term after he propelled them to a Premier League title – which they last won in 2010 under Italian Carlo Ancelotti, as well as Capital One cup. Reports have it that Mourinho’s weekly wage at Chelsea currently stands at £180,000. The two-time Champions League winner spoke on the new deal expressing his delight.

“If the club is happy, I am happy. I think this is a normal thing for me to sign a new contract. It is important we have this continuity and I hope we can enjoy more success in the future – for the fans, the players and the club, said Jose.

“I said when I returned here two years ago that I have a special feeling for this club and nothing changed. It is the club closest to my heart and I am very happy to know I will be staying here for a long time.”

Mourinho had been back-to-back champion with Chelsea during his first spell at the club in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons, lifting also the FA Cup and League cup twice before he had a rift with club owner Roman Abrahamovich which led to his exit in 2007. His decision to come back was because of his love for the club, as Jose himself highlighted.

The Portuguese’ 70% win rate is the highest of any other Premier League manager in history, and Chelsea’s 95-point haul in 2004/05 under Jose is yet to be matched.
