DONE DEAL – 25 Goals 10 Assists Arsenal Target Signs, Will Earn £80,000-A-Week

In the last few weeks, Arsenal have been linked to the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. According to the reports which were emanating from the German media, Arsenal were ready to pay as much as £28 million for the Gabonese international midfielder.

It was said Wenger has been watching the progress of the player and is impressed. And it is not hard to see why Wenger might be interested in the player. Playing as a wing forward for the Germans, Aubameyang netted 13 goals and created 4 assists for Dortmund in just the Bundesliga in his very first season with the club. In the just concluded season, he bettered his first record by scoring 16 goals and creating 6 assists for his team mates.

Aubameyang’s record is even more impressive if you look at his goals in a competition which reads 25 goals 10 assists in 43 starts for the club, and this he achieved while playing on the wing.

This is a record that none of Arsenal wingers including Alexis Sanchez can booast of in the just concluded season. Not saying Aubameyang is at the same level with Sanchez but with such a record, it is easy to see why Wenger was credited with an interest in the African. It is an open secret that Wenger likes goal scoring wingers. Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott are perfect examples.

Unfortunately Aubameyang, will not be playing in Arsenal’s colours any time soon. He has put pen to paper on a new deal with Dortmund worth £80,000 a week. This much the player himself confirmed when he said;

“I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund,” said Aubameyang, who joined Dortmund in 2013.

“I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city. BVB has become like a second home to me.

“Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave.”

This news will be a massive blow to Arsenal fans who have been hoping the club will sign the player but could it be that Arsenal has dropped interest in the player because they think they can get Benzema or Marco Reus?

Maybe, just maybe.
