Chelsea has in the last few weeks been linked to many defensive midfielders. The links are understandable though. Chelsea could do with another defensive midfielder to act as back up or reliable cover for Matic. This is especially important if you consider the fact that Mikel and Ramires could leave the club this summer.
However, blue faithfuls who were hoping to see their club sign AS Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia who has been linked to the club can forget it for this summer at least. The Frenchman has chose to sign for Inter Milan instead of moving to London to player for the blues.
Inter Milan have confirmed they have signed the player and he has been given the number 7 shirt. Consider the player signed for the Italians for £28.5 million and will reportedly earn £140,000 a week, it is not surprising Chelsea dropped out of the race for his signature.
Chelsea will now have to look for another player in the defensive midfield role especially if the reports that Mikel and Ramires are soon going to leave the club are any where close to the truth.
Chelsea already confirmed the signing of Nathan from the Brazilian league and may soon confirm the signing of Radamel Falcao on a season long loan deal from AS Monaco.
