Done Deal – 6ft 3in Defensive Star Signs For Arsenal

After securing the transfer of Petr Cech from Chelsea last week, Arsene Wenger has got his transfer business up and running, with the Gunners announcing the signature of Hugo Keto.

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Hugo Keto, who was outstanding in goal for the Gunners’ U-18 team last season.

In its report, the Daily Star says Arsenal have secured the signing of Hugo Keto and two other promising youngsters by handing out young professional contracts to the trio. The other two are Stephy Mavididi and Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

The former HJK Helsinki shot stopper will sign his first professional contract with Arsenal today.

His remarkable performances for the Gunners’ U-18 – during what was a “challenging campaign” for the young Gunners – has now been repaid.

One of those excellent shows by Keto, 17, was when he saved two penalties in one game for Arsenal’s U-18 against Fulham in May. He also featured in the UEFA Youth League for the young Gunners.

Hugo Keto is also a Finland youth international as he has represented his country at U-19 level. He is described as an athletic shot-stopper and commanding on set-pieces.

The other youngsters who were handed professional contracts, Mavididi and Reine-Adelaide also performed admirably.

Mavididi scored 18 goals for Arsenal and broke into the U-21 side. As a result, he also featured for England at the UEFA U-17 European Championships . Reine-Adelaide, on the other hand, just joined from Lens. He can play as either an attacking midfielder or a centre forward.
