That Arsenal need another defensive midfielder is an understatement and the gunners were thought to be closing on the signing of Sami Khedira from Real Madrid a while back. According to reports, Wenger likes the player and sees him as someone who can play the defensive midfield role for the gunners perfectly.
A deal could not be made last summer and it was thought Wenger will try to get the player in the winter for a cheaper amount, however, that never happened too. The player has however signed for Juventus and will wear the jersey number 28 for the old lady next season.
Juventus are seeing the player on a free transfer, he has reportedly signed a contract that will see him play for the Turin side for the next three years. The deal has been officially confirmed by Juventus which means there will be no last mistake hijacking attempt from the gunners.
This will be a blow for the gunners who are still in the market for a defensive midfielder. However, considering the age of Khedira and his tendency to get injured and miss many key matches, I do not think it is so much a miss.
At 31, Khedira is not getting any younger and Wenger will do well to go for a younger player who able to the defensive midfield role.
