Done Deal – Chelsea Completes Transfer Of Europa League Winner, Set For Weekend Debut
Chelsea’s official website has confirmed this week that German international, Marko “German Messi” Marin has joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a season long loan deal.
The 26-year old arrived Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2012 from German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen in an €8 million deal. The German international who the words ” could have been” his career has struggled for fitness and despite being known as an explosive, versatile and creative forward, his fitness problems just never let him blossom.
After showing brief flashes of his potential, he was sent on loan to Spanish La Liga side Sevilla where he struggled to cement a regular first team spot making just 10 starts for the club and helping them to the Europa League title. He was then moved on to Serie A side Fiorentina where he spent half of the 2014/2015 campaign on the bench. With first team opportunities hard to come by, he was moved to Belgium side Anderlecht but yet again, the one time German Messi failed to impress and the Belgian club refused to exercise their option to purchase the player permanently.
The German has just sealed a move to Trabzonspor but on evidence of his recent struggles for fitness and form, he definitely has his work cut out for him as he tries to ressurect his career once again.
