Chelsea have been frequently criticized for their unsavory use of the loan system, wherein the Blues sign youngsters from all over the world and loan them out to a select band of clubs with the dual agenda of finding future first teamers as well as earning profits from their sale.
Vitesse Arnhem are one such club who have benefited from the Blues’ approach , after entering into a five-year agreement with the Premier League champions to act as a breeding club for some of Chelsea’s most promising youngsters.
Until this summer, 15 youngsters from Chelsea had joined the Dutch club on loan deals in the last half decade. That number is set to rise to 17 in the coming days , with Vitesse confirming the capture of promising young duo of Izzy Brown and Nathan from Chelsea on season long loan deals.
Speaking to his club’s official website, Vitesse technical director Mo Allach was quoted as saying :
“We followed Brown and Nathan for a long time. These are players who can play in multiple positions.”
He further added:
“That Brown, Nathan and Chelsea are convinced that Vitesse is the right next step for them is a good sign. After the reinforcements for the defence and the midfield, Vitesse has now provided attackers.”
18 year old midfielder Brown is considered one of the brightest prospects in England and has already represented the Three Lions up to the under-20 level. Nathan is a highly rated 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder and had signed for the Blues this summer itself.
